Keum-boo “Come-boo” is an ancient Korean crafting technique where very thin sheets of 24k gold are fused to silver to create a silver gilt effect. Heat and pressure permanently bond the gold to the silver. The process requires lots of patience as the silver needs to be heated repeatedly to expose a thin layer of fine silver to apply and burnish the gold gilt. This creates a permanent diffusion bond.
Learning this ancient technique brought me a lot of joy and I intend to keep adding to this collection over time. In many cases I used precious metal clay to create adornments on my pieces so that the gold had texture as well as the combination of 925 sterling silver and 24k gold.
